$150 for a 55-Minute Session.
I am a self-pay private practice and do not take insurance at this time.
Why I don’t take insurance
I choose not to work with insurance companies which means I do not participate in the billing or accepting of insurance nor do I work with insurance companies in the reimbursement process. I do accept payment by cash, check, and credit cards. This is a choice I made both for ethical and self-care reasons.
While insurance may save you money, it has its challenges too. By not taking insurance, I am not obligated to label you with a diagnosis. I do not believe it serves to label people as I view individuals as holistic and resilient human beings who have the ability to overcome obstacles. Furthermore, many individuals who seek therapy do not have a mental illness, as they are looking for help to grow personally, explore their beliefs, or address an issue not related to their mental health. I work primarily with grief and loss and this is generally not reimbursable by insurance companies. I treat people, not illnesses. By not accepting insurance I can keep your information and our work together more confidential. I do not need to reveal your diagnosis, treatment plan, or symptoms and behaviors to an insurance company which could potentially damage your needs for emotional support. I also do not believe it is in your best interest to be limited by the number and frequency of sessions you are allowed to have when achieving your goals. Terminating therapy should be a decision you and I make together and not dictated by a predetermined number and timeframe of sessions. Lastly, working with insurance companies takes an incredible amount of time, patience, and paperwork. It is important to me that I am at my best when I work with you, and having this time available to invigorate myself by seeing clients or engage in my own self-care is critical to both your and my own wellbeing. You are welcome to contact me with any questions you may have regarding this.
I accept cash, check, and all major credit cards as forms of payment.
If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you may be charged for the full rate of the session.
